Hello!
My name's Lucy and I'm a 28-year-old full-time professional artist. I currently live in York. I work within a wide range of
media and create a variety of sculpture, props and fine art pieces.
I love creating things and challenging myself to come up with
new and inventive ideas and designs.
I graduated from Bretton Hall (a few years ago now!) with a 2.1 degree in Scenography (stage design and construction). Since then, I have sold a range of paintings over the internet and in 'Artfulness' - a York-based gallery. I have also worked
as a Supply Instructor at Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresbrough with
a local charity, 'HSBP' (Henshaws Society for Blind People). There I taught workshops such
as woodwork, music, paper-making, 3D and textiles to disabled artists, most of whom
had visual impairments. All of the work created is for sale around the centre and
it is worth stopping by to meet the artists and browse around the galleries and
sensory garden if you are ever visiting nearby.
I have just returned from Dubai, where I have been working for a year as the Props Team Leader for Paragon Creative Middle East. Whilst in the UAE I got the opportunity to work on a number of large scale projects, including the "Atlantis Hotel" on the Palm, Istanbul National Aquarium and the Ferrari Theme park in Abu Dhabi. Whilst working as a freelance artist with Paragon Creative I've worked on many exciting and unusual projects both in the workshop
and around Europe, as a sculptor, prop-maker and painter from giant sculptural
trees to volcanoes and glacier bridges!
"So, where does Fancypants Furniture fit into all of this then!?" I hear you cry!
Well, basically I just love making things. I love creating pieces of art for people to enjoy,
and creating unusual and imaginative gifts for people to share with others.
I have had lots of positive feedback on my work in the past, and so I thought I'd try
running my own small business doing something I love alongside my other work.
It's an exciting time for Fancypants, and things are going from strength to strength!
Thank you all for your custom, support and encouragement!
Lucy x
